Nabink Bhattarai

Nabin K Bhattarai was born on March 14th 1974 at Dillibazar, Kathmandu, Nepal. His is the first child of his parents Kalyan Bhattarai (Father) and Nirmala Bhattarai (Mother). Nabin did his schooling from Budhanilkantha School. He believed that in every field appropriate knowledge is most important so he did Ethnomusicology from Kathmandu University. He also believed that Music is a creation. It is a God’s gift to mankind. That’s why, learning music is equally important. He feels that he had gained a lot after he learnt music. He was also a student of music maestro Prabhu Raj Dhakal. His music compositions are liked by not only youngster but also by people of all ages. He is fond of doing different experiments in music. We can find soul in his music which heals the people’s heart. He is the inspirations for many new and upcoming artists. His hobbies include paintings, sports, listening music and net surfing. His favorite game is football. His favorite Nepali singers are Suresh Kumar Chettri and Kunti Moktan. He is also inspired from Pink Floyd, The Doors, and Deep Purple. Nabin K Bhattarai with his some friends established a band named 'The Steel Wheels' during the 1990s. Nabin was the rhythm guitarist, vocalist and the composer in the band. The band performed some concerts in the valley. The band also launched the album named ‘Jindagi’. All the band members except Nabin flew abroad. However the band acted as the catalyst in his musical career. Although the band broke without so much of success, Nabin definitely hit solid grounds when he released his solo song ‘Ankhama Timilai’ from his first solo album ‘Raharai Raharama’. This super hit song made unknown Nabin a superstar overnight. The song was nominated in Hits FM Music Award and won two different titles - Best Male Vocal and Best Music. Issuing single after single and scoring hits in various radio formats Nabin k Bhattarai embedded his name in the music history of Nepal. Success never left him in the Nepalese music scene after other various massive hit tracks such as 'Sanjha Pakha', 'Rata Bityo', 'Sayad Timi Nai Hau'. People started believing that his music is different and enticing at the same time. Most of his earlier songs have a soft touch to them, depicting the loneliness of a young lover. Some of his songs are even inspired by Pink Floyd's music. In the last few years, his songs have beat of hard rock tone to them due to which he is also known for great rock compositions. However, many adore him for his soft and melodious numbers. He has launched more than ten albums till date. Albums like ‘Raharai Raharama’, 'Aavas', 'Smriti', and 'Samjhana' were ubiquitous during the late 90s and the early millennium. Those albums made Nabin K Bhattarai a people proclaimed KING OF POP in the Nepali musical scene. His album 'Avash' is arguably one of the most popular albums of all time in Nepal's modern music industry. From his albums, remarkable hits include ‘Ankhama Timilai’, 'Sajha Pakha', 'Timilai Ma Dobato Maa', 'Timile Herda Kasailai', 'Timilai Bhetne', 'Chaina Joona', 'Yaad Le Timro' and many others. He is considered to be the first real Pop Star of Nepal with a huge fan following. Many young pop singers of today grew up idolizing him, and often have Nabin's influence in their lyrics and vocal. After late 90s and the early millennium, he launched new album 'Nakshetrah' which was assumed to be the much awaited album from King of Pop. It did excellent in the markets too. This album included hit songs such as 'Tmilai Mann Paraunchhu', 'Din Hos Ya Raat' which were most played songs in various means of communications such as YouTube, T.V., Radio, FM stations. Other tracks such as ‘Halla Nagara’, ‘Maile Kaiyaun Raat’, ‘Maile Timilai Chahera Pani’ were considered best among the music lovers and his critiques. Nabin K B
