Brian Carter

Howdy; my name is Brian, I transferred to Chicago from Florida to finish my Bachelors in Fine Arts at School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), painting is my favorite but I really like anything creative. I spent my whole professional career in Visual Communications and public service. After spending the last 3 1/2 years being the caregiver of my grandfather I decided now is the time to finish my degree and explore the things that drive my art, so I am very focused on being successful in achieving my personal goals. Learning about other artists' methods and practices helps in growing my understanding of my working practices. I enjoy traveling and take a few small vacations every year. Doesn't matter if the location is domestic or something more foreign, a change of environment helps freshen your perspective and recharge creative energy. Art is my passion, it can be creative writing, or taking photographs, playing music - I like many crafts, what about activities you enjoy? I'm not an engineer, but am mechanically inclined so I enjoy restoring my '48 Plymouth when i have some down time. Tinkering and fixing her up is therapeutic and very relaxing, I feel it ranks up at the top of the list along with cleaning or exercising/stretching out/yoga for me as an outlet to relax, conceptualize, or slide into some deep thought about whatever is on my mind, while still accomplishing something while I do it. I spend most of my time on studies and being in studio, but I would like to take some time to explore local venues and chi-town culture making some friends while possibly finding that special lady. This city is one of my favorites of all the places I’ve lived in and plan on staying after my degree, It’s vibrant and full of a lot of positive energy. I'm an easy goin' fella who enjoys everyday to the fullest and I appreciate your time reading this- you should reach out and make a new friend :) because friendship is where everything starts.

Traveling is always a favorite of mine, I've been to all kinds of places around the world, I go on a few adventures every year. It is a great excuse to treat yourself very well, to concerts, museums, lots of great food, and even football games!
